The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 on Friday against Altera Corp., which is now an Intel unit, the report said.
Many technology firms such as Alphabet Inc. (GOOG), Facebook, Inc. (FB), Twitter, Inc. (TWTR) and Electronic Arts, Inc. (EA) have pointed out the decision in the Altera court case as a risk in their financial statements, it added.
The IRS and Intel didn't immediately comment on the news report, the WSJ added.
