EPS increased to $0.57 for the 13-week period ended May 4, from $0.56 a year earlier. That surpassed the $0.54 average estimate of analysts surveyed by Capital IQ.
Fiscal Q1 sales increased 7% to $9.28 billion, from $8.69 billion. That exceeded the analyst consensus of $9.21 billion.
Looking ahead, the company said it expects fiscal Q2 EPS to be in the range of $0.61 to $0.62, in line with the Street view of $0.62.
For FY20, the company said it now expects EPS in the range of $2.56 to $2.61, representing a 5% to 7% increase over the prior year's $2.43, Analysts surveyed by Capital IQ are currently expecting EPS of $2.61.
